Is Perplexity an AI agent?

Perplexity is what you use when you would've Googled something, but you want a real answer instead of ten blue links. It reads the internet for you and writes you a summary, with sources.

That's incredibly useful — but it's mostly "looking things up" rather than "doing things." A true AI agent would take the next step: not just find the flight, but book it.

Perplexity is adding agent-style features (it can do longer research jobs and even shop for you in some places), so it's moving in that direction. For now: excellent research helper, light on the "go do it" side.
